Big Teams Waste Hot Young Prospects

I was quite excited when Lukaku came to the premier league as he was a young player who had caught my eye and I thought he was an exciting prospect. As always happens thought he didn’t get a fair crack of the whip, granted Chelsea have some excellent players and they were strong up front last season but that is no use for Lukaku? Another young player, signed by a top club and ends up rotting without playing as they cant warrant playing him before the strikers they already have there. So my question is Why Buy Him if he isn’t going to play.

Maybe for the future which is a fair point but as we see over and over again young players who are bought without the chance of getting in the first team usually don’t really progress in the reserves and never actually end up getting a proper chance which for me just wastes them as a player. I am glad he has gone out on loan because it means he can develop as a player and I think Premier clubs need to take heed of this, whats the point of signing a top prospect and giving him no playing time, it can only be detrimental to the lad and in the end everybody loses out. We have seen it before numerous times with players like Wright Phillips, Scott Parker, Sidwell, David Bentley, Adam Johnson, Dos Santos, the list is endless.

If the big clubs want to invest in young players then that’s fine but they must make sure they get enough playing time to develop fully otherwise all our best prospects will be wasted, if that means being slowly brought into the first team or being loaned out then whatever it takes but we cant just forget about them and watch them stay at the same level and never get a fair chance at getting first team football.

Maybe Jack Rodwell should read this???

Has Rodwell made the right move? Will he play?
